Playa del Moro: beautiful among the beautiful
The Playa del Moro, attached to the Playa del Dormidero is one of the hidden gems of Fuerteventura, located in the northeast of the island, within the Natural Park of the Dunes of Corralejo.
This beach, characterized by golden sand and crystal clear waters, is particularly popular with surfers and tourists due to its ideal conditions for surfing and other water sports.
But when is the best time to visit?
And how to get there?
Let’s find out together.
Playa del Moro stretches for several kilometers along the northeastern coast of Fuerteventura, offering a breathtaking spectacle of golden dunes and azure sea.
The landscape is dominated by the majestic dunes of Corralejo, which make this beach not only a great place to relax, but also to enjoy activities such as surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing.
The dunes, which cover more than 2,500 hectares, are the largest in the Canary Islands and create a unique and atmospheric environment.
How to Get There
Playa del Moro is easily accessible by car, being located along the FV-1, the main road that connects Corralejo to Puerto del Rosario.
From Corralejo, just follow the signs for the Natural Park of the Dunes of Corralejo and continue along the FV-1 until you find the entrance to the beach.
There are parking spaces available nearby, although during the high season you may need to arrive early to find a spot.
For those who prefer public transport, there are buses that connect Corralejo to Puerto del Rosario, with stops along the FV-1 near Playa del Moro.
However, the frequency of buses can be limited, so it is advisable to plan your trip in advance.
Playa del Moro Wind Waves and Tides
Real-time
Wind Waves Tides throughout the year
Wind: Playa del Moro is exposed to the north-easterly winds that blow constantly throughout the year.
These winds make the beach particularly suitable for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
However, during the winter, the winds can get stronger and more turbulent, making conditions more difficult for less experienced surfers.
Spring and summer, on the other hand, offer more moderate winds, ideal for those who want to try their hand at these sports for the first time.
Waves: The waves in Playa del Moro vary greatly throughout the year.
In summer and spring, waves are usually smaller and smoother, with average heights of 1-2 meters, ideal for beginners and those looking for waves that are easy to handle.
In winter, however, the waves can reach considerable heights, up to 3 meters or more, attracting experienced surfers looking for a challenge.
Waves are mainly affected by Atlantic swells and local winds, which can create waves of varying quality.
Tides: The tides play a crucial role in Playa del Moro.
The beach is subject to relatively high tides, which can significantly alter the surfing conditions.
During high tide, the beach narrows, and the waves can become more powerful and dangerous.
It is advisable to check the tide forecast before planning a surf session, especially if you don’t have much experience.
When to visit Playa del Moro?
Spring: Spring is one of the best times to visit Playa del Moro, thanks to the mild weather conditions and moderate waves.
The wind is steady but not overly strong, making this season ideal for intermediate and advanced surfers.
Summer: During the summer, Playa del Moro becomes a reference point for beginners, thanks to the smaller and more regular waves.
Water temperatures are warmer, and wind conditions are generally favorable.
However, the influx of tourists is greater, so it is advisable to arrive early to find the ideal spot on the beach.
Autumn: Autumn offers conditions similar to spring, with still pleasant temperatures and good quality waves.
It is a less crowded time than summer, making it easier to enjoy the beach in peace.
Winter: Winter in Playa del Moro is the busiest season for surfers.
The waves are high and powerful, and the winds can get strong and unpredictable.
This season is only recommended for experienced surfers looking for extreme conditions and demanding challenges.

At the beach you won’t find anything.Food and Drink: Playa del Moro is a natural beach with no amenities, so it is advisable to bring water and food with you, especially if you plan to spend the whole day on the beach.
