Flying with drones: how and where

drone in Fuerteventura

In recent years, the number of drones and consequently of passionate pilots has grown enormously.
Thanks to prices that have fallen and thanks to increasingly innovative technology, there are now many varieties of drones on the market with prices suitable for all wallets.

The island of Fuerteventura is a perfect place to take photos and videos with drones, but are you sure you can do everything in maximum safety and compliance with the law?

Currently the law that regulates the flight of drones in Spain is Law 18/2014 of July 2014, although the State Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is working to update the existing rule in agreement with the European Aviation Safety Agency.
With the new regulation you will be able to fly over urban areas, over people and even fly at night, but in any case, to do any type of commercial or civil activity with a drone you will always have to obtain an official permit, since the airspace belongs to EASA. In fact, any drone is considered an aircraft, and as such must meet a series of requirements for its guidance and performance.droneDespite the fact that different opinions can be found online, no municipal or regional authority can circumvent the restrictions of Law 18/2014.
Looking at the EASA website everything seems very clear.
It is also the only reliable source of accurate information about current legislation.
It should be borne in mind that the reckless use of a drone can have very serious consequences, fines for improper use can reach 225,000 euros.
On the
The websites of EASA are located all the information on the legislation, all the steps to follow to become a drone pilot operator, brochures to download and FAQ section.

We publish below the basic rules for the use of drones in Spain, all those who want to learn more can take a look at the EASA page.

This is what you can NOT do with a drone:

It doesn’t matter if the use is for work or as a hobby, you must always respect these rules – You cannot fly it in urban areas – You cannot fly over crowds of people: parks, beaches, concerts, weddings, demonstrations, processions, etc. – You cannot fly at NIGHT – You cannot fly near controlled airspace, airports, airfields, etc. – You cannot fly where other low-altitude aircraft are flying (paragliding areas, parachuting, heliports) – You cannot cause danger to other people

What do you need to know before using a drone as a hobby?

dronethe use of a drone as a hobby or for recreational flying does not need a qualification from EASA, but it must meet certain safety standards: – The drone must always be in the pilot’s field of vision, who must fly the drone adequately and cannot exceed 120 meters of flight altitude.
– The pilot must be able to handle the drone with safety and experience – Only you can fly in suitable areas, model aircraft areas or areas without population, outside urban areas – Damage caused by a drone is the responsibility of the person operating it.

In order to use drones as work tools, it is necessary to comply with the regulations:

– be registered with EASA – have civil liability insurance for the use of drones – be a certified drone pilot (with practical and theoretical knowledge) – have a medical certificate that is always up-to-date We leave you with a video (in Spanish) from the website airdroneview.com with all the explanations regarding working with drones.
