
According to data from the municipality of La Oliva, the population regularly registered as a resident in the municipality of La Oliva has exceeded 31,000 inhabitants, with the percentage of foreigners for the first time higher than that of Spanish residents.
To be precise, as of March 31, 2017, there were 31,389 residents, with an increase of more than 11% compared to 31/12/2014 when there were 28,153 inhabitants “empadronati” in the municipality of La Oliva.
The number of foreigners is still increasing and is 16,959, or 52.44% of the population, thus surpassing the Spanish community (which numbers 14,430 people).
La Oliva is once again confirmed as a Multi-Ethnic municipality, with inhabitants of 92 different countries.
The most numerous foreigners are Italians (5,783) and they are also the ones who have increased the most compared to 2014, almost 38% more.
The British have also increased (3,258) with an increase of 13%, confirming themselves as the second most numerous foreign nationality.
But in the last two years the French (631) have also increased by 26% and the Germans (1,410) by 9%.
The only population in sharp decline is that of Morocco (701) with a minus 10%.
There are also other large communities of foreigners from countries such as: Portugal 498, Colombia 316, Belgium 296, Netherlands 285, Ireland 258, China 251, Argentina 231.
