10 Healthy Conscious Diet Tips
Here in Fuerteventura and in all the Canary Islands we are lucky to be able to enjoy three thousand hours of sunshine a year.
This determines the way we should take care of our diet.
These are my Nutritips for a healthy conscious diet.

• 1- Organize your menu weekly or monthly. Thus, you can have all the necessary ingredients to prepare it. You also need to take into account whether you eat at home or at work and the
number of dinner guests.
• 2- Write your shopping list. Check the ingredients you have at
home in your storage room and refrigerator. Thus, you will
avoid purchasing unnecessary ones or forgetting something.
• 3- Choose fish from your area instead of meat. You can choose
among cherne, vieja, jurel , sama, mero and blue fish like
rabil, anchete , pámpano, bocanegra and medregal. Avoid cold
meat that includes a lot of salt, fat and artificial additives.
• 4- Adjust the portion to each person. Is not the same portion
for an adult, a boy or a girl.
• 5-You must eat five meals a day.
Breakfast, snack, lunch, tea, dinner or supper
• 6- Drink water during the day because the heat and the wind
increase dehydration.
• 7- Eat seasonal fruit and vegetables from your area.
► 3 portions of fruit a day.
► 2 portions or vegetables a day. One raw like a salad and
one cooked like vegetable stew, soup or vegetable
cream, etc.
► Frozen vegetables are processed healthy food which are
time and money savers. They provide fibre,
phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, healthy natural sugar
and water.
► It is better to eat the whole fruit instead of just the
juice o smoothie.
• 8- You should incorporate complex carbohydrates, potatoes,
sweet potatoes or boniato, whole wheat cereal like brown
rice, legumes, stew, salads, good quality bread and pasta al
dente. We have a great variety.
• 9- The ideal dessert is a seasonal fruit.
• 10- The best cooking oil is the Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

A healthy diet gives us the vital energy we need to face life challenges.
