Discover a new friend for all children: Vera, the little aloe…
Vera lives with her siblings and friends on the island of Fuerteventura and through her adventures, she makes friends with many creatures and plants.
Vera is both the character of children’s stories and a soft doll to cuddle.
Let’s get to know it through an interview with its creator, Alessia Notarianni who enchanted us with her imagination.
– Presentation:
Hi, I’m Alessia and I’ve been living in Fuerteventura for a few years.
My passions have always been drawing, inventing stories and sewing.

– How did the idea of Vera, the little aloe, come about?
What can I say, the natural wonders of this island have conquered me immediately.
What vegetation differing from that to which I was accustomed!
The Aloe plant caught my eye because of its flower.
Its particular shape made me think of a multitude of small flowers that slept embraced, and in the group I saw her: Vera, the little aloe.

– And the fabric doll, do you sew it yourself?
Of course you can!
To give it life I sewed several prototypes because I tried to convey the tenderness I felt, but in a safe and soft doll even for the little ones.
Every little aloe, I sew it myself and even if I put the same love, there is no one like the other.
Vera often has to face a long journey to reach a new little friend, so I prepare a cloth bag that turns into a warm bed and a soft pillow to sleep in.
– How did you develop the illustrations?
Sewing the first dolls, my imagination traveled and I imagined the little aloe living adventures in nature and discovering it with the curious eyes of a child.
I thought: ‘why not put on paper what is in my head?’
And I started writing and drawing.
I am not a writer, I am the author of my stories and I would like to improve myself more and more, but seeing that so many children and adults show so much affection and enthusiasm towards Vera, gives me a unique charge and transmits so much happiness.
I will not stop thanking for this.
– What are the stories about?
They are set in the nature of Fuerteventura.
So children discover characters such as Lilla abubilla (hoopoe), Guapa la lapa (sea limpet), the grumpy Cuca (cucaracha) and Vera’s best friend: Catú who is a cactus.
Then endemic species such as the Gurre bird of prey, the lisneja majorera and the musaraña appear.
But you can also read about a stone that turns out to be the top of the mountain of Tindaya and many others!
The stories are short and possibly with a moral related to the environment or emotions.
Some stories end with a question so that the children can interact with them.
Vera’s first book, the little aloe, is written in both Italian and Spanish (in the same book) and is available both in paper and downloadable in PDF.

– How can I buy online?
The PDF version can be downloaded by CLICKING HERE !!
– Tell us about the collaboration with the magazine ‘Mi Pueblo Fuerteventura’
Yes!
I’m really happy about this collaboration!
Ana Notario, the director of Mi Pueblo, immediately captured Vera’s soul, and here was born, within the magazine, a column dedicated to children called “Vera, the little aloe”.
Every month we publish a new story or a game.
– And what about the Youtube channel of the little aloe?
Well, this is a totally new adventure!
I followed the online webinair of Beatriz Montero, writer and storyteller who taught me to overcome the shyness of telling in a language that is not mine.
I would love to become a good storyteller!
It’s something that everyone can do at any age, you just have to know how to dream!
I look forward to seeing you on my channel (click here to go to Vera’s YouTube channel)
I have many ideas for the future of the little aloe, I will be happy to share them!
We are therefore waiting for you on the site where you can find gifts and drawings to download and color: www.VeraPequenaAloe.com
Thank you so much to Corralejo.info’s friends and welcome to all my new friends and Vera’s, the little aloe.
